As with the traditional Mega Man gameplay loop, after an introductory stage, Mega Man X8 presents the player with a choice of eight stages, with a Maverick robot serving as the stage boss. Mega Man X8 retains the 3D graphics style present in Mega Man X7, but reverts to a purely 2D gameplay style, similar to that of Mega Man X games prior to X7 (except for Dynasty and Central White, the only stages including on-rails vehicle phases in full 3D). The game was later re-released worldwide on July 24, 2018, and in Japan on July 26, 2018, as a part of Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows.
It is the eighth and final installment in the Mega Man X sub-series of the Mega Man franchise. Mega Man X8, known as Rockman X8 ( ロックマンX8) in Japan, is an action platform game developed and published by Capcom originally for the PlayStation 2 on December 7, 2004.
